Volunteer Program
Newtown Mission offers a unique opportunity for members of the community to be involved in it’s volunteer program. Opportunities to contribute in this ministry are open for people with a heart for community and are willing to sacrifice time and concern for others.
Volunteers are extensively involved in the meals program which run daily. Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays we have lunch from 1—3pm with a cooked meal on a Thursday from 6 –7.30pm. Opportunities include, helping with food preparation, serving & building friendships with those who need a helping hand. A Thursday volunteer program outline can be found here.
Training is provided to equip our volunteers in the areas of OH&S, Food Preparation, Child protection & Policies & procedures. Specialized training in Drug and Alcohol awareness is also a feature.
Volunteers at the Mission will interact with the broader community that they would not normally have the opportunity to engage with. The ministry has a positive impact on the lives of the volunteers and those they serve. World views are changed, love is birthed & community is formed.
