The Revelation Ceiling Project
Newtown Mission member Kon Parris has spent a large portion of the last seven years painting a giant mural of the book of revelation. The Revelation Ceiling, the largest religious artwork in Australia, has recently been unveiled on the ceiling of Newtown Mission's King Street Chapel.
Each of the twenty panels covers a scene from the biblical book of Revelation, though some panels convey several themes. The images include Satan being bound by an Angel (Rev 20:1-3), a pregnant woman being tormented by a seven headed dragon (Rev 12:1-5) and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Rev 6:1-8). The panels are united by a giant circular rainbow.
Entry is free and visitors are welcome to look at the ceiling during any of our open times. Group bookings are also available for guided tours of the artwork.
