Pastor (Reverend) Andy Collins – Newtown Mission Pastor| Andy has no stronger desire than to see people walking closely with their Creator, living lives of meaning and purpose as He enables them to live to their fullest potential (Andy included). He has worked amongst alcoholics and addicts for the past two decades, and has a real longing to see God set people free from the chains of addiction, becoming dependent on HIM alone! Random Fact| Before starting at Newtown Mission in 2003, Andy has had a wide-ranging versatile career, including winning awards for cooking at KFC, working at a major record company, fitness instructor, landscape gardener, ranger, fire fighter, working at an abattoir and assembling electronic goods!!
Pastor Brian Unterrheiner – Compassion Pastor|Before coming to work with Newtown Mission, Ps Brian was the Associate Pastor for 7 years at the Penrith Church of Christ Church and ran “Youth Unlimited’; a youth service in Drummoyne. Ps Brian was involved with Christian Surfers in Nambucca Heads, and has worked within various Church denominations. Brian's current role involves managing our ‘Community Care Centre (DropIn)’; which provides meals, support and care for its guests. Ps Brian’s vision is to see a community transformed by God’s hand of grace and mercy reflected through an effective team of Christian men and women refining their gifts and talents in a healthy and exciting "environment" of ministry and service. Random Fact| Brian grew up on a farm in rural NSW and was a Carpenter before meeting His Lady Love Sue. He then became surfer boy, who now has 6 kids & lives in the hustling vibe of Newtown!!
Stephanie Crosby – Newtown Mission Accountant | Stephanie is a Chartered Accountant, who has come from a corporate background working at KPMG and Qantas. Stephanie has been a member of the congregation since 2006, involved in the Compassion ministry, leading bible study and serving on Church Council. Stephanie brings both expertise and a great relationship with staff, leadership and the congregation. Steph works for Newtown Mission part-time; Tuesday and Wednesday each week between 8.30am - 3.30pm. E: stephaniec@newtownmission.org.au
Random Fact| Steph grew up in the ‘Gong’ (& is still trying to convince her hubby to move back there…). While her coin collection screams ‘Accountant’ Steph would like to think her interest in Indie music and the café scene give her a little street cred!
Mel Galbraith – Newtown Mission Administrator | Melinda was appointed the Newtown Mission Administrator in March 2011; coming from a corporate background in Global Investment Banking Compliance. Mel has settled into Her role with Newtown Mission quickly and utilising her diverse skills and experience facilitating much of what happens at Newtown Mission on a daily basis - she is greatly appreciated by all. Random Fact| Mellie loves her Coffee (extra large & many of them), which she drinks through a straw and is not only obsessed with Owl like trinkets but pink doughnuts!!
Helen Wright – Annandale Creative Arts Centre Manager | Helen loves gathering people around creativity and exploring new ways of expressing faith, worship and church. Before starting to work at ACAC in 2011, Helen was the founding director of Breakthru’ Artz, a youth focussed arts organisation engaging people in issues of faith and justice, locally and touring across Australia performing and teaching. Helen has also worked in church ministry at St Stephens Anglican, Belrose in youth, schools, services, prayer & worship. When not managing ACAC, Helen teaches dance and can be found talking about arts ministry wherever she can! E: anncreative@gmail.com
Random Fact| Helen likes to travel. So whilst in love with living in Newtown, if grounded for too long, she’ll start feeling the itchy feet. At random times of the year you’ll find her at arts gatherings in Tasmania, Melbourne and wherever else they’re happening!
