One of the highlights here at the Jordan Café is our lunchtime Bible Study. We introduced it early last year on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but due to how popular it is, and how much people love it, we also now run it on Fridays! During lunch when 1:30 comes around a shout will go out, ‘please come and join us for Bible Study!’ and then we meet at a table in the Hall while lunch is on. People can bring their plate of lunch over or a cuppa. We then hand out the Bibles turn to the passage, read it, think about it and then chat about it. All the while the Café is happening, so Bible Study can be random, chaotic, noisy and interrupted. But we don’t seem to mind. People will join us for a couple of minutes then leave and some people will hover around wondering what we are doing. But we love it. There is something special about joining together reading the Bible, learning more about Jesus, sharing our lives together and then to pray for each other!

Through the Bible Study and also at Thursday night Chapel, we have slowly been making our way through the book of Luke (the Gospel of Luke). It has been amazing to be challenged about who Jesus is. Jesus is God. Jesus is Saviour. Jesus is Messiah. Jesus our friend. Especially in Luke when we read about Jesus over-and-over again reaching out to those who society ignores or puts down! We have been challenged by Jesus, encouraged by Jesus and most importantly it makes us love Jesus more-and-more. And, like the people Jesus meets in these stories, we also have to make a decision? We need to decide about Jesus? To decide to keep going the way we are going OR turn to God and place our faith in Jesus and live life to the fullest, live life forevermore, eternal life with God!

Jesus replied “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:28)
