The Pumpkin Run is an event created by Pathfinders. This initiative helps connect fresh, locally grown produce with community organisations, soup kitchens, and care services that provide nutritious meals to people experiencing hardship.
The pumpkins are grown as part of hands-on learning and development programs that give young people opportunities to build practical skills, gain work experience, connect with nature, and contribute positively to their communities.
Over the years, tonnes of pumpkins and other fresh produce have been grown, harvested, and donated through the initiative, helping community organisations prepare healthy meals while creating meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and give back.
We were delighted to welcome visitors to Newtown Mission on June 3, joining our staff, volunteers, and community as we prepared and served lunch at Jordan Café.
The generous donation of fresh pumpkins helped provide nutritious meals for our community, while creating opportunities for connection, conversation, and shared purpose. It was wonderful to see everyone pitching in, from unloading produce to helping prepare and serve lunch.
The generosity didn't stop there. After the meal service, pumpkins were shared with local community members, bringing a splash of colour and plenty of smiles to the streets of Newtown.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved. Donations like these help us continue supporting people experiencing hardship with practical assistance, hospitality, and a welcoming place to belong.
