Contemplative Worship

Sunday October 18th, 5pm

84/86 Cardigan St, Stanmore NSW 2048, Australia

WHAT TO EXPECT?

We will be spending around 45 minutes in quiet reflection using a variety of Christian traditions (such as Taize, Ignatian, Lectio Divina). There can be bible readings, silence, questions to ponder, reflective music, and prayer. It will change slightly from month to month.

When the service leader signals the end of the time, please leave the space quietly. Feel free to talk outside, but we will leave the hall for those wanting more time to reflect. Please contact our minister, Andrew Johnson (andrewj@newtownmission.org.au), if you would like to follow up anything from our time together.

Aboriginal Sunday

Aboriginal Sunday | A Time for Reflection and Solidarity

Aboriginal Sunday is an opportunity for Australian churches to stand in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, honour their cultures and stories, and reflect on the ongoing journey towards justice, recognition and reconciliation.

Initiated by Aboriginal Christian leader William Cooper, Aboriginal Sunday has a long history of calling churches to acknowledge injustice and work towards a more just and compassionate Australia.

At Newtown Mission, we recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking alongside First Nations peoples with respect and commitment.

May this day inspire us to keep working together for truth, justice and reconciliation.
